Nils Master Spearhead 8 cm – tight-swimming floater for salmon, barramundi and beyond

The Spearhead was designed in 1965 and has been in production ever since. What it has collected along the way is a reputation — including the day Kalevi Kangas landed four salmon with it, each around 15 kilos. Not a bad reference test.

At 8 cm, it is a compact lure with a tight, controlled swim. Dive depth is around 2.5 metres. Like all Invincible Floating lures, it rises to the surface when you stop retrieving — a pause that often does the work.

Up north it is best known as a salmon lure. In Australia it has found a second life among barramundi anglers. Big trout, perch and pike take it too. Works casting from the bank or trolling from a boat.

Care & Adjustment

Let wooden lures dry properly after fishing — they’ll thank you for it.

If the lure runs slightly out of tune, fine-tune it by carefully adjusting the eyelet angle. Leave the plastic lip alone — it’s already doing exactly what it should.

If the lip is damaged during a tough fight, it can be easily replaced with a spare part.
